WHAT IS YOUR PORTRAIT PROCESS?
The portrait process starts when you decide you want to have beautiful photos of your loved ones (whether they have four legs or two) as beautiful art for the walls of your home. While the current generation is the most photographed generation, they are the least likely to have prints made. Beautiful images do your memories no good if they are not displayed.
THE INITIAL CONSULT
I want to make sure that we are a good match for each other, so a consultation, either in person or on the phone, is an important first step to the process. We'll talk about your vision for the photo session and who it will include (people, horses, dogs, etc.). This is instrumental in guiding the type of photos that we create during your session.
IF YOUR WALLS COULD TALK
After our consult, you will snap some photos of the blank walls in your home where you think you might like to hang one or more portraits from this session. Before the session even takes place, I will create a layout for you from the photos of your home, so that you can begin to see what your finished wall art will look like -- even before the pictures are taken. We will have a second consult online where you'll be able to see art suggestions for the spaces you have shared. You'll be able to make adjustments to size, framing, etc., and even get an accurate estimate on final cost. Knowing how many spaces we will need to fill will help guide our photography session. In addition, knowing a cost estimate ensures there are no surprises when its time to view and order.
THE PHOTO SESSION
Based on the type of portraits you're looking for, we'll do a session either in studio or on location. Studio sessions can be scheduled for any time of day and are generally more formal and fine art in nature.
For equine portraits, your session will be either the first hour after sunrise OR the last hour before sunset. These times of day provide the best lighting. Your session will be a fun time where you, your pets/horses and your other loved ones will be able to relax, have fun and enjoy the time together. Sessions generally last about two hours, to make the best use of the light. If the weather is inclement, we'll reschedule for another day.
WILL YOU TAKE MY HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR PICTURES?
Yes! Most schools have contracts with studios for formal portraits, however they leave the fun photos up to the student and family. I would be honored to capture your senior portraits, especially if they involve horses!
VIEWING & ORDERING: THE REVEAL
At the time we book your photo session date, we will also book your reveal session. Reveal sessions are where you view and order photos from your session. All reveal sessions happen at my Plainfield, IN studio location. It will be at this appointment that you will be able to view images from the session and place your order. We recommend you set aside at least 90 minutes for viewing and decision making. Make sure all decision makers are present, as this will be the only opportunity you have to place an order.
RECEIVING YOUR ART
All final art is shipped to my home office. Your beautiful custom portraits are fine art, and they will be ready to hang in your home when you receive them. You will be contacted when the pieces arrive and we can schedule a time when I can deliver your finished art pieces.
